Connecting Responsible Travel with Conservation

BIOCOS Nepal promotes conservation experiences that help visitors understand Nepal’s wildlife, landscapes and local stewardship. These experiences are designed to strengthen conservation awareness, provide appropriate local benefits and generate support for long-term fieldwork.

BIOCOS Nepal contributes conservation knowledge, scientific interpretation and connections with field programmes. Licensed travel arrangements and logistical services are provided by authorised tourism partners.

What We Do

• Develop conservation-focused experiences and natural-history routes

• Provide scientific and conservation interpretation

• Connect visitors with local scouts, researchers and community hosts

• Promote ethical wildlife observation

• Communicate realistic expectations about wildlife sightings

• Encourage minimal disturbance to wildlife and habitats

• Support local employment, services and conservation enterprises

• Link visitor contributions with monitoring, patrols and education

• Promote conservation landscapes without presenting wildlife as guaranteed attractions

Where We Work

Snow Leopard Haven, Manang

Snow Leopard Haven is an education-based lodge and BIOCOS Nepal satellite field base. Visitors learn about snow leopard ecology, camera trapping, local stewardship and high-mountain conservation from scouts and researchers. Snow leopards remain wild, and sightings are never guaranteed.

Dhaulagiri Red Panda Landscape

Carefully designed forest and cultural experiences can introduce visitors to red panda habitat, ecological research and community conservation while supporting appropriate local services.

Pipar Pheasant Conservation Landscape

Birdwatching, natural-history interpretation and community participation can create local benefits while reinforcing protection of pheasants and their forest habitat.

Nepal’s Living Landscapes

Natural-history journeys connecting Chitwan, Pokhara, the Kali Gandaki Valley, Mustang and Manang demonstrate how wildlife, geology, culture and conservation change from the lowlands to the high Himalayas.
