Poaching, hunting and snaring remain serious threats to wildlife in several BIOCOS Nepal landscapes. We support trained local scouts and rangers to patrol habitats, document threats, remove snares and report suspected wildlife crime to the responsible authorities.
• Train local scouts in patrol methods and field safety
• Conduct regular foot patrols in wildlife habitats
• Use SMART to document patrol routes, observations and threats
• Detect, record and remove snares and traps
• Monitor areas where hunting pressure is high
• Report suspected wildlife crime and wildlife mortality
• Raise awareness about hunting and illegal wildlife trade
• Coordinate with local government, community institutions and protected-area authorities
