Prakash Chandra Aryal is an environmental scientist and biodiversity researcher with broad experience in ecological research, quantitative data analysis, biodiversity assessment, and conservation science. He is currently pursuing his PhD and serves as Advisor for Data Management, Analysis and Interpretation at BIOCOS Nepal, where he supports the organisation in strengthening the scientific quality of its research and conservation programmes.
His academic background spans biodiversity and environmental management, conservation biology, behavioural ecology, research design, and data analysis. Over the past decade, he has combined academic teaching with applied research and consultancy, contributing to studies on wildlife ecology, species distribution, human–wildlife conflict, climate change, urban biodiversity, invasive species, and habitat conservation. His experience includes leading and supporting ecological studies involving pangolins, red pandas, amphibians, reptiles, birds, pollinators, and Himalayan forest ecosystems.
A particular strength of his work is the management and analysis of complex ecological datasets. He has contributed to national and landscape-level biodiversity assessments, species distribution modelling, occupancy studies, socioeconomic research, and the development of wildlife monitoring approaches. His research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals covering conservation, ecology, environmental management, and biodiversity science.
At BIOCOS Nepal, Aryal advises researchers and field teams on data organisation, quality control, statistical analysis, and the ecological interpretation of research findings. He helps ensure that data collected through camera trapping, wildlife monitoring, field surveys, and community-based conservation programmes are transformed into scientifically robust and meaningful evidence. His role also supports the development of research publications, technical reports, monitoring frameworks, and evidence-based conservation strategies.
Through this combination of quantitative expertise and ecological understanding, Aryal helps BIOCOS Nepal connect rigorous data analysis with practical conservation decision-making across Nepal’s diverse landscapes.
